about #living1965
#living1965 is an ongoing project to collect personal stories on Indonesia’s 1965 and distribute them through social media. The project aims to post one story, in a variety of formats, each day, in order to keep the stories around 1965 Indonesia alive, as a living and ongoing memorial.
our aim
The project brings together people affected by the 1965 events and their aftermath, connecting us, as human beings, across generations and continents. It serves to remind, raise awareness, communicate.
our hope
In showing that these stories are shared by many – who transcend the definitions of left/right, right/wrong, victims/perpretrators – the project hopes to create more awareness on the 1965 events in Indonesia and abroad.
your contribution
What you can do:
• Contribute anything personal you might have about 1965, including but not limited to: short stories, poems, images, videos, opinions, anything that reminds you of Indonesia’s 1965.
• Pass on this message to someone you might think would like to contribute.
• Spread the stories everywhere with both hashtags, #1965setiaphari and #living1965
There is no limit to size, duration and length, but what gets posted on social media might be a short summary (below 200 words) of the submission, with a link to the full entry on this website.
